My Chat With Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri | Exclusive Interview

Hi everyone, I'm so sorry for no blog posts last week, but I have been so busy that I didn't get a chance. However, I am back today with an exclusive interview I conducted with hair masters Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri.

Nikki and Riawna are two Los Angeles hairstylists that have overtaken West Hollywood with their ultra modern premiere salon and also for their sheer creative brilliance and talent in the beauty industry.

Keep reading to find out about their favourite beauty products, tips and of course Nine Zero One...

Firstly where did you both meet?
Nikki: We both met whilst working as assistants at the Fred Segal Salon in Santa Monica.

How did you join forces to open up Nine Zero One in West Hollywood?
Riawna: We had both been working as a pair for a while and we wanted to finally create an environment that reflected our own personalities, tastes, and work ethics all in one.

What was the inspiration behind the venture?
Nikki: We were inspired to make a salon that was a totally unique experience, unlike any other salon out there. We wanted everyone that walks through our doors to feel like Nine Zero One is their home away from home!

Describe the salon in five words?
Riawna: Inspirational, energetic, chic, comfortable, and trendsetting.

Who is your most famous celebrity client?
Nikki: All of our clients are our absolute favourites, so its hard to say!

How do you stay up to date with the latest trends?
Riawna: We're constantly inspired in our daily lives to create new fashion led trends!

If you both had to live on a desert island, which essential products would you take?
Nikki: That's really easy for us. It would have to be Unite 7 Seconds, which could help us untangle our messy hair and also the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray to enhance our beach locks.

You often work with A-Listers such as Jennifer Lawrence and Ashley Tisdale, what is your most common celeb hair request?
Riawna: The most common request is for natural looking hair. Effortless beauty is always the most desired.

As well as Vanessa Hudgens, you also transform Selena Gomez, how do you create their signature bohemian braids?
Nikki: We created the Braid Bar in our salon for our clients to come in, see a menu and pick from our most chic braids. The ticket to all braids is to add lots of texture, without it - they just won't work.

Is there a universal style that flatters most people? If so, what is it and how do we achieve the look?

Riawna: No one style works for every person, which is why we really like to get to know our clients and listen to their lives day in and day out to customise the most perfect look especially for them.

As you specialise in extensions, what advice can you give to girls wanting to maintain their long manes at home?
Nikki: You're haircare regime should be as strict as your skin care. Great products and regular haircuts keep you healthy and polished, meaning it will look its best.

What are your personal favourite hairstyles and why?
Riawna: We would both pick braids! Mainly because they look intricate and detailed, yet they are always so effortlessly chic.

Can you share with my readers your ultimate bombshell beauty tips?
Nikki: Confidence is key! Don't be afraid to try new things and explore other options. Remember to experiment!

What are your life mottos?
Riawna: It would have to be that teamwork definitely makes all of your dreams work!

Lastly, whats next for Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri?
Nikki: Through the rest of 2014 and 2015 we have large expansion plans for the Nine Zero One brand.
Riawna: We really want to branch-out, so everyone will just have to wait and see what the future holds for us!

Once again I would just like to say a huge thank you to both Nikki and Riawna for conducting this interview with me. As two busy stylists and entrepreneurs, they are highly in-demand, yet they still took the time out of their busy schedules to share their insight with my beautiful readers.

My Chat With Polly Osmond | Exclusive Interview

I'm back this week with an interview I conducted with talented make-up artist Polly Osmond.

Polly has glammed up countless celebrities from Selena Gomez and Mary-Kate Olsen to Sofia Vergara and Adriana Lima. Her work has graced so many magazines covers that's its actually hard to keep up. However Polly's fantastic credits do include the likes of Allure, Elle and Vogue (just to name a few).

Despite being highly in-demand, I got the chance to interview Polly about how she got into the beauty industry, whats in her personal make-up bag and also which products shes uses on her a-list clients.

Keep reading to discover Polly's expert knowledge, advice and tips...

At what age did you get into the beauty business and how did you get your first big break?
Coming from an art background (I attended the London College of Fashion, where I studied hair and make-up), from there I assisted two very influential make-up artists. But my big break came when I did the Jeremy Scott show in New York and Steven Klein was in the audience. He booked me as he loved the make up! I was 26 at the time and a nervous wreck, as I was a big fan of his photography. I then worked with him for a number of years - it was an amazing experience.

How did you make the transition into make-up artistry for celebrities?
I wouldn't say it was a transition, but it was very gradual. You have hair and make-up artists that work round the clock with celebrities. I generally work with them mainly on shoots for magazines and the more I do them, the more I get booked for red carpet and press tours.

You have had an incredible career - what has been your highlight?
I have had so many highlights. I've been fortunate enough to travel to many amazing places. A recent trip to Kenya was one of them and also Vietnam. Then it's really exciting to see the stories come out in the magazines.

Where do you find inspiration for constantly creating different looks?
My inspiration comes from everything. Colours in flowers, industrial buildings, art, music, history, different cultures, food etc. The more visual knowledge you have the better. Then it's breaking it down, deconstructing and adding twists to make it your own.

Do you have any advice for people wanting to get into the industry?
Ever Since social media became a huge platform for public voices it's now no longer closed off to the select few. Anyone can be a make-up artist good or bad. If you have a voice and a smart brain, use it!

You have worked on a lot of magazine covers, which has been your favourite look to create and why?
I think Rita Ora for Elle magazine has been one of my ultimate favourites. And also Número with Gemma Ward - it was simple yet beautiful.

How do you keep up-to-date with all of the new make-up trends and how do you incorporate them into future projects?
I watch what's going on with the fashion shows, but sometimes it's a natural instinct with what to do. The clothes themselves tell a story and with a good team that's how great images are created.

Which key products do you tend to reach for the most on a day-to-day basis?
Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer, Lancôme Hypnose Mascara, Hourglass Lip Treatment Oil and one product that never leaves my kit is the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. In fact my kit didn't turn up on a job once and all I had was a tube of the Eight Hour Cream to work with.

You recently made up the beautiful Sofia Vergara for the new Cover Girl Commercial, what was your favourite product to use on the shoot?

It would have to be the Cover Girl Bombshell Volume Mascara.

What are your three desert island products?
I love skincare and lipsticks! It would definitely have to be Clarins Sun Cream, otherwise I would have third degree burns and also MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick for the evenings. I would also need a razor, as I wouldn't want really hairy legs when they rescued me!

You also often work with the gorgeous Adriana Lima, which products do you usually use on her to transform her into a sexy siren?
Adriana, well wow what a beauty she is! She likes her skin to look glowing and not too much base. Very often she likes a bright lip, such as the NARS Red Lizard Semi Matte Lipstick and also on the list has been iconic MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick.

What is currently in your personal make-up bag?
I steal things from my kit and then wonder why I can't find them! But at the moment I have the Lancôme Tient Miracle Bare Skin Foundation in there. Also an Hourglass Icon lipstick, Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara and Clinique's Redness Solutions Mineral Pressed Powder and of course my new obsession which is Diptyque solid perfumes in Do Son and Philosykos. Oh and a Vanilla Coke lip balm that my son gave me!

Can you give my Bow Bombshell readers some of your best beauty tips?
Always line and fill your lips with a pencil that is very close to your own natural lip tone, as this will give them definition and make them appear fuller. For smaller lips you should slightly overdraw them, which will give the appearance of them being bigger and fuller. Also add some balm for a very sexy pout.

What are your goals for the future?
To move and have a small cottage by the sea!

Lastly, whats next for Polly Osmond?
This business is full of swings and roundabouts - you just never know what each day brings. One day your disappointed because you didn't get a job, then the next minute something comes in unexpectedly that may lead to bigger and better things. But I've recently started talking about a project that I would like to do and have been thinking about for a long time. It's now just about finding the right people to help me do it!

I would just like to end this post in saying a big thank you to Polly Osmond for conducting this interview with me! I love Polly's humorous personality and also her desert island picks. A razor is definitely a good shout, as you most certainly want to look your best when you're finally rescued haha ;-) I hope you girls enjoyed this interview as much as me!

DIY: Healthy Flavoured Water

In today's post I am going to cover some tasty refreshing water drinks to help aid and encourage you to drink more of it. We all know the health benefits, but can we all safely say we drink enough of it?

I personally have to admit that my drinking life is rather boring, in the fact that it doesn't exist LOL. I'm not a fan of alcohol or fizzy drinks, so I naturally just tend to lean towards plain water. However, I understand that not everyone enjoys the taste of regular tap water, so I will list my best tips for jazzing up your healthy drink.

Copy my recipes below for an at home spa like feel...

Cooling Citrus with Orange, Lemon and Lime!

The importance
It is important to drink lots of water to help flush out the nasty toxins and impurities from your body. Also all of the ingredients in this recipe are great for your overall health, as they will not only help you look your best on the outside but also make you feel good on the inside.

Ingredients and products you will need
1 Orange
1 Lemon
1 Lime
1 bag of ice
1 cup of filtered/tap water
1 muddler
1 large jug/jar

Instructions
Begin by slicing your orange and lime into small sizable chunks. Then add them into your chosen container and gently press and squeeze your fruit with a muddler to help release the juices. Next fill the rest of your jug or jar with ice. Once filled, add one cup of filtered or tap water to the mixture and then stir your homemade water cocktail. For an added boost, cut your lemon in half and squeeze some into your drink (the amount you add is down to personal preference, but a few drops is usually fine). Finally to finish off, place it in your fridge and leave it to chill.

Refreshing Raspberry with Fresh Fruits and Mint!

The importance
Think of water as vital fuel for your body. The more you drink it, the healthier and smoother your life journey will be. Our bodies are made up of predominately water, so it only makes sense to regularly refill our 'tanks'.

Ingredients and products you will need
A large handful of raspberries
1 lime
1 mint leaf
1 bag of ice
1 muddler
1 cup of filtered/tap water
1 large jug/jar

Instructions
Start off by cutting your lime into four large sections and then add it into your chosen container. Next throw in your raspberries and mint leaf (if you would like a stronger taste, simply add in more leaves). Afterwards twist and press your fruit with the muddler until the juices are released. Then fill the rest of your jar with ice and one cup of water. For best results, stir your mixture and then place it in your fridge and leave it to cool overnight.

Summer Sensation with Pineapple and Watermelon!

The importance
If you want to drink more good for you fluids, then why not try infused waters. They can help make your skin naturally glow and also give you a clean and clear complexion. The added fruit will benefit your organs, as well as your outside beauty.

Ingredients and products you will need
Half a pineapple
4 slices of watermelon
1 bag of ice
1 mudler
1 cup of filtered/tap water
1 large jug/jar

Instructions
Firstly begin by chopping your pineapple and watermelon into large chunks. Throw your ingredients into a jug or jar and then once again use your muddler to extract the powerful juices. Next fill the rest of your container with ice and one cup of water. Give it a quick stir and then for maximum flavour leave it in your fridge until you are ready for a sip.

Top Tips

#1:
If your area doesn't have the best water, invest in a good water purifier. I have one and I can honestly say it is one of the most used items in my kitchen. Remember to change your filters often, as there really is no point in having a great system, if you don't regularly clean it.

#2:
As well as storing your colourful concoction in your fridge, its also advised that you drink each jar within 3 days.

#3:
To make your recipe more sweet, simply add in one teaspoon of artificial sweetener, honey or syrup.

#4:
Why not make several varieties at a time, which will then help keep you going during the week.

#5:
If you don't want any of the fruit pips or bits getting into your finished drink, either remove them before adding them to your jar, or use a strainer when pouring.
So there we have it, water no longer has to be boring! You can add pretty much any herbs and fruits you like (except bananas, as they don't work so well). To make your own fun combinations, play about and have fun. Flavoured waters are not only inexpensive to make, but they actually make the perfect cool down drinks during the summer and also at parties for children and adults alike.

Let me know if you have any other favourite flavoured combos, as I would love to know!
Enjoy!

My Chat With Caggie Dunlop | Exclusive Interview

I'm back once again with another interesting interview. This time I have been questioning the ever so fabulous Caggie Dunlop.

Caggie burst onto our screens back in 2011 when she starred in Made in Chelsea. Since then, she has not only gone onto releasing music and a fashion brand, but also a pop up shop. Now she spends her time planning and focusing on her acting career, whilst preparing to temporarily move stateside.

Carry on reading to keep up-to-date with all things Caggie...

At what age did you know you wanted to be in the entertainment industry?
I have always wanted to be an actress from a very young age, in fact that is why I went to the Lee Strasberg Acting School in New York.

You are known for your enviable lifestyle, so can you describe your typical day in three words?
I wouldn't really say its that enviable! Made In Chelsea definitely displayed a more glamorous version of different situations. But I am very lucky that I am able to do so many things. Either I will be in the studio or in the office or at a shoot or like last week I was at a school. Things are constantly changing for me, which helps keeps things exciting.

How did you find being a main character on the popular reality series Made in Chelsea and would you ever go back?
It was great, but it was very intense. I still keep up with those who I was close to on there, and I would never say never. But I do have lots of different things that I am currently focusing on at the moment.

Have you kept in touch with any of your former cast mates?
Yes. I actually try and see them whenever I can. But understandably the ones who are still in the show are quite consumed with all of that.

You are also very creative and interested in music. Will you be releasing an album any time soon?
Well I was going to, but things have changed recently for me, as I have become more involved in the acting scene again - which is great and where my real passion has always lay. However, I love music and writing, but I don't know whether life on the road is one for me. But I guess we will see what eventually happens.

If you could duet with any singer (dead or alive) who would it be?
It would definitely have to be either Matt Corby or Macklemore.

You recently set up your own brand ISWAI: It Starts With An Idea, what made you go into fashion and has it always been your dream to design?
Well I have always loved fashion and it is such a fun thing for me to be apart of. I am very interested in all things creative, so it really is a dream come true. Whats even better is being able to watch it grow from strength to strength.

Where did you get the idea to showcase new talent and was it hard narrowing down your applications?
Yes it was at the beginning, but now we know exactly what we are looking for, so it makes life a lot easier. The idea just came to me as I thought it would be nice to give people an opportunity to showcase their designs, rather than claiming to be a big designer myself.

What is your favourite item from your collection and why?
I love the Paris top we do, as it is very me and also unique. But we also have some more lovely things coming in soon.

Talking of clothes, if we were to take a peek inside your wardrobe, what would we find?
A lot of denim. Literally a lot! And also a fair bit of chiffon clothing and pastels. And I have a huge number of Aussie designers in there too.

How would you describe your personal style?
It would probably have to be disheveled chic.

What was your most recent high-end splurge?
I actually don't tend to spend a lot of money on clothes. In general I am more into second hand clothing and High Street shops. But I did once buy a jumper for 350 dollars from Acne. For what it was, that was probably my biggest ever splurge.

Do you have a beauty routine you stick to everyday?
Not really. But the best beauty routine starts from the inside out, such as drinking green juice and water and also doing lots of exercise. I always find you then don't need to worry about the external stuff as much.

What are your favourite beauty tips?
I swear by the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, drinking lots of water, getting plenty of sleep and also regularly using coconut oil.

Lastly, whats next for Caggie Dunlop?

I am currently planning on spending some time in Los Angeles over the next few months, so that I can focus more on acting again. So really, just watch this space!

A big thank you once again to Caggie for taking the time out of her busy schedule to conduct this interview with me. It was really nice getting to know the girl behind the famous reality show and also finding out some of her latest career ventures!

If you would like to find out more about Caggie's fabulous fashion brand (and I'm sure you do) then check out www.iswai.co.uk

Lastly girls, let me know your favourite piece from ISWAI? And also tell me your all-time favourite style tips?

DIY: Cooling Cucumber and Luscious Lime Facial Mist

Have you ever wanted to make a quick no mess facial spray at home? If you didn't know what to use or do, then this post will help guide you through step-by-step, ensuring you produce a high quality, high performance skincare staple!

Keep reading for my best tried and tested tips and tricks...

The importance
It is important to keep your skin hydrated at all times and one great way of helping it is by boosting your skins moisture levels with a mist. Not only are facial sprays great for giving your skin some extra TLC, but also for refreshing your make-up after a long day.
This cucumber and lime mist will be sure to make you look and feel like a pretty princess in no time!
Top tip: For an extra cooling sensation and a wonderful burst of freshness, store your fabulous face mist in your fridge. However ladies, remember to use it within one week.

Ingredients and products you will need
1/2 cucumber
1/2 fresh lime
2 tablespoons of rose water
2 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of aloe vera
1 cup of hot water
1 jar or bowl
1 spray bottle

Instructions
Firstly begin by cutting half a cucumber into several small pieces and then cut two to three peels of a fresh lime. Then place your ingredients into a jar or bowl and fill the rest of the container with boiling hot water, then allow your recipe to cool overnight. The following morning strain your concoction and extract the highly potent water. Next add in a few drops of lemon juice, rose water and aloe vera. Once together, mix your zesty contents to help them blend and bind. Finally pour your homemade facial mist into a handy spray bottle and shake vigorously.
Top tip: If you would like to change up your skincare routine, make a facial spray with pure rose water, which is great for people with sensitive skin.

Application
For a perky clear complexion spritz your revitalising facial mist whenever your skin needs a quick zap of moisture and freshness. Alternatively, if you run out of your regular skincare toner, you can also use this mixture as a replacement.
Top tip: If you are wearing a lot of eye make-up, simply cover your peepers and spritz liberally over the rest of your face and neck. Also remember to carry it with you during the summer months, as it will not only be a fantastic pick-me-up, but it will help give your face a natural glow.

Lastly, if you are a fan of facial mists like me, then you will love this DIY cucumber and lime recipe. It can not only help reduce redness and swelling, but it can also promote blood circulation and improve your skins overall firmness and elasticity.

I really hope you enjoy this relaxing cooling mist.

Please let me know your thoughts and also your results if you try it.
