My Chat With Sarah Chapman | Exclusive Interview

In today's post I am going to share with you an interview I conducted with the lovely Sarah Chapman.
If you follow me on twitter (and if you don't, you should) you will know I love Sarah's skincare range. Mainly because the line features luxurious products that not only smell lovely, but they also deliver great results! The beautiful textures combined with the hand-picked powerful ingredients truly leave the skin covered and coated in goodness and this is why I wanted to share Sarah's beauty philosophy, knowledge and insight with you all!

Carry on reading to find out Sarah's favourite beauty tips and also the products she can't live without...

How did you get into the health and beauty industry?
I have always been fascinated with beauty and I was lucky enough to discover this as soon as I left school. One of my first jobs was working as agency staff in the Harrods beauty room whilst I was studying. My beauty education involved aromatherapy, make up artistry, beauty therapy, hairdressing and cosmetic science leading to my work in the skincare business for two very different brands: one was Parisian aromatherapy-based, and the other was a cutting-edge clinical range.

At what age did you know you wanted to focus on skincare?

I have always had a passion for beauty ever since being in trouble for purple streaked hair and too much make-up at school! I grew up in Norway and it was there that I learnt about skincare in order to cope with the harsh weather conditions and as a family we shared big tubs of protective moisturisers. It definitely had a profound influence on my interest in skincare. I trained as a make-up artist and became increasingly more fascinated with the skin as I strove to create the perfect canvas for make-up on stressed, damaged, breakout prone models skin. Once I was into my 20’s I knew skincare was my passion.

When did you open your first clinic?

I started by setting up a lovely space at home and working from there and then as my business grew by word of mouth I was seeing so many more clients that I decided to set up in Draycott Avenue where my clinic is today. This was about 7 years ago.

What is the best part about your job?

I love being able to make a difference for peoples skin, the best call to me was a client who said “I have really sore, uncomfortable, difficult skin and its been like this for years, can you help?” - I did and she is still a client 10 years later but glides through winter with glowing skin and no discomfort. This is hugely rewarding! I also love when I meet people at events now and they squeal with excitement about my Overnight Facial or Facialift Massager!

Who would you say your skincare line is for?

Skinesis is designed for skins over 25, which is when the aging process really begins. Looking after your skin from a young age and getting into a good regime will reap you benefits in the future. It is also never too late to make a difference to your skin and we have concentrated formulations for skins which are showing significant signs of aging and some of our clients are in their 80’s. If it is beautiful results driven skincare using the most premium and technologically advanced ingredients then Skinesis is for you.

If you had to pick your favourite product from your Skinesis range, what would it be?

This is a really hard question, as I love all of my Skinesis products – each one I have developed and nurtured from the initial concept to the final product being approved, tested and bottled. However if I had to choose, then it would be my much loved Overnight Facial. It is by far our bestseller and a favourite with so many of my clients. It captures the product-range philosophy and the essence of my firming and brightening skin rejuvenating facials. It is a cashmere textured serum-oil which on first contact feels like a traditional aromatherapy oil but transforms into a unique silky moisturiser. This was my original idea, to combine powerful cosmeceutical actives in a botanical delicious oil. It contains antioxidants, vitamins, my signature skin-brightening complex, skin firming peptides and essential oils of jasmine, rose, frangipani and tuberose. It has a superior drying time so it transforms into a moisturiser as it disappears into the skin. We also use this to massage in all of our facials.

What is your daily face routine?

On a day to day basis I use my Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse followed by my Eye Recovery, Age-Repair Concentrate and Dynamic Defence Concentrate and at night Overnight Facial. I also take lots of supplements to help retain moisture in my skin and keep it in tip top condition and I eat a healthy diet with lots of sea vegetables and brown rice. I avoid sugar and luckily don’t have a sweet tooth. I also make sure I wear SPF every day and don’t sit in direct sunlight to protect my skin against the damaging rays.

Describe your travel essentials?

On my website I have a brilliant Travel Kit selfishly designed for myself! My Voyager collection contains all my travel essentials. Ultimate Cleanse with a Professional Cleansing Mitt for complete make-up removal and perfectly clean skin. Anti-Ageing Beauty Bible award winners Age-Repair Serum and Dynamic Defence SPF15. Multi award winning Overnight Facial for night time rejuvenation. Intense Hydrating Booster to combat dehydration and help neutralise airborne bacteria for in-flight travel and post sun exposure and Eye Recovery to instantly refresh and disguise tired eyes - I won’t travel without it!

What is your favourite beauty treatment?

My favourite treatment is my Stem Cell Collagen Activator Therapy. I designed it as the ultimate anti-ageing treatment to dramatically lift, smooth, plump and regenerate the skin. Collagen is targeted in three ways to maximise the effect of my Stem Cell Collagen Activator serum which contains super concentrated anti-ageing botanical stem cells and peptides. Advanced micro-needling, Omnilux Revive red light therapy and Stem Cell Collagen Activator are used in combination in this innovative new treatment which has dramatic lifting and line smoothing effects on the skin. The difficult part is getting an appointment with one of my dermal therapists!

Do you recommend massaging your skin at home and if so, why and what are the benefits?

Facial massage is the key to a good skincare routine and is an essential part of my treatment philosophy, as it’s an excellent way to really help stimulate your skin and aid skin function at a cellular level by boosting the vital supply of oxygen and nutrients into skin cells and draining toxins and waste. Cells become sluggish with age and poor health, so facial massage can help improve skin cell function encouraging better cell performance and healthier skin. Facial massage can be incorporated easily into your ‘at home’ routine either by using your own hands and specialist techniques or tools such as my Facialift massager. At home massage recreates the benefits of a professional treatment, to boost the power of your products, drain toxins, relax your muscles and give your skin an extra glow and burst of energy by stimulating blood flow to bring more oxygen into your skin cells.

What advice would you give to ladies worried about premature ageing?

Stay out of the sun and use an SPF.

If one of my readers only has a few minutes to do their whole skincare routine, which steps would you say are a must?

It is fairly simple – Cleanse, Serum & Moisturise. These three steps really do not take any longer than brushing your teeth, so there is no excuse!

What is your favourite beauty tip?

Always protect your skin in the sun. Don’t skimp on cleansing, spend your money on a good cleanser. Choose products with vitamin A to help fight the ageing process. Support skin with omega oils internally and externally. Combine supplementation and clean diet with a good skincare routine for best results. Don’t overuse AHA’s or peeling products and be careful with harsh exfoliators and microdermabrasion.

If you could only use one skincare product for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

This is a tough one! I can’t imagine not cleansing but equally I could not do without moisturising, so technically there is no one product that would make your skin healthy and comfortable. Sorry it would have to be two - my Ultimate Cleanse and also my Dynamic Defence Concentrate SPF15.

Lastly, whats next for Sarah Chapman?
I am constantly working on new formulas for the future. I have so many ideas and the list keeps getting longer. Technical formulations however take a long time to develop and as a perfectionist I never accept them until they are the best they can be, so you may have to wait a little while longer but a new treat will be coming in the spring. I am also developing some of our clinical treatments with the introduction of some new machines and technology.

I just want to say a huge thank you to Sarah and her amazing team! I was so excited to conduct this interview, as it allowed me to share with you her top tips and advice.

I personally love the range so much, so its really hard for me to pick a favourite product! However if I had to, it would probably be
the Overnight Facial, as it leaves my skin feeling soft, supple and rejuvenated. It has become one of my most-loved skincare staples and I am literally never without it. I know Sarah's skincare line is for women mid-twenties and up, but I have been using and enjoy the range for a few years now and I'm not 25 yet - so I personally think if you want to try it and you're a little younger, as long as you pick the right products for your skin-type and concerns, you will be fine.

If you would like to find out more about the Skinesis range or buy a product (or two) then check out Sarah's fabulous website

Lastly girls, what are your favourite products from the Sarah Chapman range?

New Year, New You!

Its that time of year again, when we set ourselves new years resolutions that we hope we will stick to for the rest of the year. Some of you out there may have already given up on your new wishes and plans, but I want to be the one to encourage you and spur you on to be the best that you can be! Small changes can have a big impact on your life and even if you don't have anyone else supporting you, know that you have the power to make each and every day, week, month and year amazing!

You don't necessarily need a new year to make a new dream or goal, you just need the determination and willpower to set out on your mission. Even when times are hard and you're telling yourself to give up... DON'T!!! Know that you can achieve anything you want to, you just have to work hard and keep on pushing. Some of the most successful people on the planet have gone through bad times and struggles, but what made them powerful was that they never gave up and neither should you.

In today's post I am going to give you five ideas that you can incorporate into your New Year, New You outlook.

1. You're unique so embrace that

You are yourself, so don't ever try and be like somebody else. I know with today's technology it can be hard, as one minute we see one of our friends fab Instagram hauls and the next we see celebrities on different vacations and we wish ‘why can't I be them?’. But just know in reality, none of that matters. You are you for a reason! Start every morning with a positive acknowledgement to yourself and know that you are here for a purpose and that each day you should strive for greatness in whatever you do. Remember ladies, don't try and fit into this world, make the world fit around you!

2. Be a risk taker

Nothing feels worse than being stuck in a rut, be that relationship wise, career wise or even beauty and fashion wise. Todays a new day and its time for you to stop letting things hold you back. You have the chance and choice to drop it and move on. Start learning to experiment and enjoy life. Don't be afraid to make crazy decisions or try new styles, as you only have one life and as they say, if you live it right once is enough. If you work in an environment that makes you unhappy, find a new place to share your brains and talent. If you have had the same hairstyle for over 10 years, change that and go for the chop. These small steps can bring you bags full of new confidence and they can also help build a new you!

3. Look for the good in every situation

This year, don't look for the negatives or what could go wrong, channel your mind to think of all of the good things that could go right. Negative thoughts breed negative energy and nobody needs that in their life. For you to go onto bigger and better things, you need to start looking for the good in every situation, whether it be big or small. When you let go of hate, you realise how great life can truly be! Be that bright shiny ball of joy that you were born to be.

4. Leave your problems, failures and heartache in your past

You can never move on, if you keep going over all of the horrible or terrible things that have happened to you. For you to be the best, you must firstly believe it and secondly have no ties holding you down. If you keep replaying hurtful or sad times in your head, you will eventually believe that's all you're worthy of, when in fact it's not. If you are too busy focusing on your problems, you won't see all of the opportunities standing in front of you. Take a moment and let go of anything that is hurting you or stopping you from being the best!

5. Make time for yourself

I couldn't end this post without mentioning a little bit of beauty. So girls, each week take one day out for you. Even if you can't devote a lot of time to yourself (which let me tell you, you should) but even if it's an hour or two, it will make a huge difference. If your energy is constantly shining bright for others, sometimes you need to sit back and work on your inner and outer glow. If you need to go to bed for an extra couple of hours to rejuvenate your body, do it. If you want to pamper yourself with a face mask, do it. Use your free time to spoil yourself.

Lastly, I hope each and every one of you has a great 2014 and that you all achieve your goals. Make this year the best that it can be. Why not do something different - go out and meet new people, take on fresh challenges or simply just appreciate the wonderful world we live in. Each day you should try and step outside of your comfort zone and tackle all of the things that scare you. And remember, nobody else is going to make your dreams come true, besides you. So go out there and accomplish them!

If you feel this post can help someone you know, share it! Sometimes the small things we do can help brighten someone
else's day!

In the words of Rihanna, shine bright like a diamond!

Big hugs to you all!

My Chat With Peggy Tanous | Exclusive Interview

In today's post I am going to share with you an interview I conducted with Peggy Tanous. Not only has this blonde bombshell starred on The Real Housewives of Orange County, but she has also had an extremely successful modelling and acting career.

Carry on reading this article to find out the lowdown on her life, tips and beauty regime...

What is your fondest memory from being on The Real Housewives of Orange County?
My fondest memory was being in front of a camera again after taking over 3 years off to have my girls and also getting to film with my family!

Do you miss being on the show?

I miss having a steady gig and also having them come to my house to film! But now I'm in LA all the time anyway.

Would you ever consider going back?
I would go back for cameos possibly, but I don't think I would go back as a full time housewife.

Have you kept in touch with the other ladies?

I've stayed in touch with Tamra and Gretchen - but not that much, as we are all busy and in different places now career wise.

Did you learn anything from being on reality TV?

Don't believe everything you see and hear! And you can't look at it as reality, but instead as a business.

What have you been up to since RHOC?

I've been extremely busy with my girls, London and Capri. They are both in sports and dance classes and they also have constant play dates. Then I've been busy with new show projects and getting back into my modeling, hosting and acting! And Micah and I are always busy helping various charities.

What projects are you currently working on?

I am currently selling my fitness DVD Total Body Workout with your Toddler on my website and on Amazon. I am also in production on a new reality series that I created, which I will star in and produce. Lastly, I am filming my own talk show that just got picked up by a network dedicated to health!

You are all about positivity and female empowerment, what words of encouragement can you give to people who are currently in a dark place?

Know that you are not alone and find someone as an outlet to vent to. If you don't feel comfortable talking to a family member or friend, then therapy is a great outlet. I would also suggest that you workout everyday or go outside and take a walk. This really helped me. And of course try the various natural supplements out there on the market or prescription meds.
How old were you when you first started experimenting with make-up?
Geez, I think I loved make-up since I was a young kid, but I probably started really experimenting when I started modeling around 14. I was having make-up artists doing my make-up for shoots and I wanted to learn more.

Who is your beauty icon?

I have a few. Marilyn Monroe has been my idol since I was 5, but I have also always loved a supermodel of the 80's and 90' Christy Turlington. She is very naturally pretty - without a lot of make-up. Currently I love Angelina Jolie, as she is a combination of a tough girl with guns and a classic beauty.

What is your morning and evening beauty routine?

I use the Clarisonic in the morning and evening. But in the AM after using the Clarisonic I put on an eye cream, anti-oxidant serum and a moisturiser with an SPF in it. Then I either put on a tinted moisturiser if it's a mommy day at the park or a liquid foundation if it's an audition, filming or press day!

Which products are currently in your make-up bag?

A great brow pencil and brush all in one by It Cosmetics, my favourite lip glosses by Chanel (especially #166), blotting papers for shine and a Dior bronzer.

If you only had 5 minutes to get ready, what would your routine consist of?

Clarisonic, moisturiser, brows, mascara and gloss. That's pretty much my daily routine and time frame since having two little girls at home!

You are known for your gorgeous long blonde hair, how do you maintain it?

I only wash it twice a week if I can get away with it and I try to always let it air dry. I use a heat protector spray before using a flat or curling iron, so I don't burn my hair and I get it trimmed every 4-6 weeks.

Do you have any beauty tips and tricks you can share?

Use Preparation H for bags under your eyes and also cold cucumbers help after a late night out! For pimples, toothpaste works well - if you don't have anything else. And lastly, ice is great to take down any swelling.

You have been very open about having breast augmentation, so is there any advice you can give to other women considering getting a boob job?

Make sure your doctor is a board certified plastic surgeon and it's always best to go to someone who you have personally seen his or her work. Friend referrals are the best!

Having a healthy lifestyle is a big part of your life, what tips would you give to men and women who want to look and feel better?

Working out everyday will increase your energy and make you feel better - even if it's only a 20 minute walk. Drinking lots of water is great for your digestion and your skin. Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamins you can take, as it helps protect your immune system from colds and flu and its also a natural anti-inflammatory. Try and eat organic as much as possible and limit your sugar intake.

Which housewives make-up and style do you admire or want to emulate the most?

I think Lisa Vanderpump from RHBH always looks classy and beautiful. She's never too overdone, but doesn't look sloppy either.

Do you feel under pressure to look good living in OC and being photographed by the media?

Yes being in the public eye definitely makes me feel more concerned about looking good, but I try to just be me and not be concerned about what people think. Loving ourselves is the most important thing.

Lastly, whats next for Peggy Tanous?

What's next for me, well quite a few things. My youngest daughter will be starting kindergarten in late July (year round schedule) so I plan on getting more involved with volunteering and keeping both of the girls busy with activities. I also plan on getting a daily or weekly health segment on one of the local news stations. I have also written several shows and I plan on getting those on air. Some I would host and others I will just take a producer role in. Lastly, we have some family vacations coming up and I just want to take each day as it comes and live life to the fullest!

I just want to say a big thank you to Peggy! I absolutely loved conducting the interview with her, as she was so honest and candid. Not only did she share her personal tips, but also some insightful information on helping others.

Be sure to follow Peggy on Twitter @PeggyTanous and also don't forget to check out her website
I hope you guys enjoyed this interview. Let me know who you would like me to interview next?

Its Time To Reveal Your Inner Rebel!

What does a new year bring? Yeah you guessed it, new make-up trends.

This winter its all about goth-glam chic! It was a huge hit on the catwalks and now its time to put it into your pretty little make-up bags. When thinking about gothic make-up, think Morticia Addams from The Addams family but with a more feminine take than its predecessor. Ok I admit, this might be filling you with horror, but rest assured that this trend will not make you look like a 90s throwback and instead you will look like a sultry kitten.

Celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian, Emma Stone and Nicole Scherzinger have all been sporting the new look, from pale skin to dark lips. And no matter what age you are or what skin tone you may have - this look will suit you! My biggest tip for all of you out there, is choosing the right products for you! So, if you suit bright red lips, embrace that. If you suit smokey eyes, go for it and darken it up. Beauty is about enhancing your features and making the most of what you have, its not about covering it up. Do not be scared to try new products and experiment, and as I always say ‘practice makes perfect'. If you do not like your new look, you can simply wash it off - that's what makes make-up so fun.

However, as one would imagine goth-glam is full on, but that doesn’t necessarily mean scary – instead its about embracing beautiful dark colours and using them in a modern glamorous way. This look is most certainly eye-catching and ultra-dramatic, but also flattering if done in the right way. Which is why I am going to share with you some insider tips and tricks to get you looking every bit the party princess (even if you are just going shopping). Ladies, its time to reveal your inner rebel!

Follow my tips below to reveal a gorgeous new you...

Face it
For make-up I recommend avoiding fake tan, as this look is all about your natural skin-tone. Super pale skin completes the trend and celebrities such as Nicola Roberts love the crisp look that pale skin brings.
Top tip:
Do not go overboard, as you will be having intense eyes and lips - so it is important to keep your foundation minimal. If you suffer with spots, be sure to use a heavy duty concealer to hide away any unwanted blemishes.

For eyeshadow I recommend using a bronzy neutral shade over your lids and working a dark brown into the crease, as this will help create dimension and definition - making them appear brighter and more lifted. If you do not like browns, why not try greys, blues and blacks for sexy smouldering eyes.
Top tip: Always use an eye primer, as it will not only make your eyeshadows bulletproof and last all day, but it will also help the colours pop.

Next apply some gorgeous fluttery eyelashes – as no matter what eye shape you have, there is lashes to suit you. For a more subtle look, cut your falsies in half and apply them to the outer corners.
Top tip: I recommend applying your eyelashes with tweezers to help you put them as close to the root as possible. Also before applying, remember to check that the lashes are the right length for you. If you find that they are too long, give them a trim from the outside corners, as this will help keep your falsies in the right shape.

Finally for lips, try and opt for classic reds or dark cherry tones. It is important to always remember to pick a shade that suits your colouring. Below are some tips to help you find your perfect lipstick shade…
Fair skin: Look for reds that add warmth to paler skin.
Olive skin: Opt for bright lipsticks which will bring out your skins golden undertones.
Dark skin: Mulberry lipsticks will look fabulous, as intense colours compliment darker skin tones.
Top tip: If you want your lipstick to appear matte, lightly dust some translucent powder over your pout to help lock in the colour and give it a more intense and long-lasting finish.

In a rush and don’t have time to do full make-up? Then just remember to do the three E’s – Eyebrows, Eyeliner and Eyelashes – these quick steps will help frame your eyes and make you look fresh and pretty. Also girls, if you have a couple of extra minutes throw in some Eyeshadow too – (EYE WON’T TELL IF YOU DON’T!)

Nail it
For a fierce everyday glam look, you can nail this seasons style using a black opaque nail varnish. Or you could be bold and show your confidence through a classic red nail polish – both will be sure to get you in the goth-glam spirit.
Top tip: Firstly file your nails and then apply a base coat, as this will help protect your talons and stop any staining. Make sure your nails are completely dry before applying your pretty polish and for best results, apply at least two thin coats. To keep your manicure looking salon perfect all week, apply a top coat to help seal the varnish in place.

Rock it
Finally, now that you have your make-up and beauty sorted, invest in a little black dress, some studded high heels and funk it up with some statement jewellery to look like a beautiful dramatic diva.
Top tip: Be sure to wear sequins, sparkles and spikes for the latest on trend style - which will see you through all season.

Take a look at my top shopping picks below…
From top left: Estee Lauder Vivid Shine Lipstick Luminizer, Chanel Coco Noir Eau De Parfum, Soap and Glory Supercat eyeliner pen in Carbon Black Extreme, Barry M nail polish in Black, Tom Ford Eye Colour Quad in Titanium Smoke, We Are Faux Good Girl lashes, Yves Saint Laurent Dessin Du Regard Waterproof Eye Pencil in Shimmering Burgundy and Rimmel London Kate Moss lipstick in 01

So there we have it, goth-glam is the hot new look for 2014!

Let me know what your favourite beauty and fashion trends are so far?

My New Years Resolutions

Hi lovelies! Today I'm going to discuss with you my New Years Resolutions. I debated whether to post this or not, as I like to set myself goals all year round - rather than just in January. However, a new year is meant to be a fresh start and a new beginning, so I am going to share with you my resolutions, which will hopefully help me be the best version of myself.

Below is my list of life, beauty and fashion changes I would like to make this year...

1. Launch my first business
This is definitely one of my top priorities for 2014, as I have been working on this project for over a year now. Like anything I do, I never rush into things. I want my business to be the best that it can be and that is why I have taken my time and researched all of the ins and outs of the industry that I am going into. It has been such a fun and exciting time for me career wise and I cant wait to share it with you all.

2. Continue learning, experiment and take more risks
As I have mentioned in a previous post, I love learning. I believe that there is so much out there to explore and find out about, that each day you should learn at least one new thing (be that big or small). I would like to expand my knowledge on a whole heap of subjects and I also want to take more risks when it comes to experimenting with my ideas, plans and also fashion choices.

3. Worry less, smile more
I worry about everything, far too much. I worry about problems that haven't even happened yet, but I have to admit I do like to call that 'careful planning' haha (which I think we are all a little guilty of). That is why this year I have set my goal to worry less and smile more. Even though inside my brain might be doing overtime, I am going to promise myself to chill out and let things naturally happen instead.

4. Go on a beauty spending ban
I am the worlds biggest beauty junkie! So much so that I actually had to convert a spare bedroom into a beauty room. You might be thinking I'm crazy and you would be right, but I'm sure secretly deep-down you love hoarding make-up too (well I hope you do anyways, as it makes my obsession not so bad haha). But seriously, I want to stop buying more products as I have enough to beautify a small country. Out of all of my New Years Resolutions this is going to be the hardest, as I love trialling new products, but I am going to try my best - or at least cut down.

5. Stop saving things for best
I am literally the worst person for doing this! I'm not sure if any of you out there do this too, but I always keep my expensive designer items for special occasions, rather than wearing and using them everyday. I do have some exceptions with my purses and bags etc, but with high-end clothing, jewellery and accessories I always save them for best, as I don't want to ruin them (ridiculous I know) as I'm not getting to properly enjoy them. So this year I want to stop being protective over my possessions and just use the wonderful and beautiful things I own.

Anyways that's enough of me for now. I just want to wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope each and every one of you has had a great 2013 and if not, don't worry just make 2014 your year!
Lastly girls, what are all of your New Years Resolutions?
